Network Event - January 10th, 2009

Posted by Blue Box Group about about 1 year ago...

At 1:35pm, Global Crossing experienced a network failure in their Seattle to San Jose fiber network. Our network is designed with multiple upstream providers and thus routed around the issue, but customers may have noticed a 30-60 seconds period of time where our network was unaccessible during the routing reconvergence. We will update this ticket when we have further information.

Upstream Network Maintenance

Posted by Blue Box Group about about 1 year ago...

On Thursday, January 22nd, one of immediate upstream bandwidth providers will be making a change to their peering configuration. This will not cause any outage, however, it may cause network paths to change, thus dropping permanent connections such as VPN tunnels, etc…

This maintenance will occur between 11:00 pm on the 22nd and will conclude by 1:00 am on the 23rd

Mail Flow Delays

Posted by Blue Box Group about about 1 year ago...

During a few short periods over the last 72 hours and then starting at 6am pacific time, our Spam and Virus company Postini began delaying email relayed from our secondary internal mail relay mail2.blueboxgrid.com. mail2 is used to relay mail from our hosting customers to the internet or to mail accounts on mail.blueboxgrid.com. This delay would have impacted mail sent from our IP space to accounts on mail.blueboxgrid.com.

As of 12:45pm, we’ve been able to correct the issue with Postini and implement fixes to prevent it from occurring again.

Box Panel Upgrade

Posted by Blue Box Group about about 1 year ago...

Tomorrow at 1pm Pacific, we will be doing a fairly significant upgrade to Box Panel. There should not be a visible outage, however the few customers who are presently using our control panel for FTP administration may see a brief disruption in access while we update the databases those FTP servers use for authentication.

If you notice any problems, please open a support ticket.

Update 4:33pm on Jan 21st - We’ve discovered a final few small items with the release that we want to fix prior to this update. We’re going to spend Thursday and Friday fixing those, and then do this update on Monday at 1pm.

Network Solutions under DDos Attack

Posted by Blue Box Group about about 1 year ago...

Network Solutions DNS infrastructure is presently being attacked with a distributed denial of service attack that is making DNS resolution for domains using WORLDNIC.COM DNS servers either very slow or not responsive at all. Unfortunately, we have no control to help resolve this problem.

This issue is only affecting domains with DNS at Network Solutions. Our ns1.blueboxgrid.com and ns2.blueboxgrid.com servers are operating just fine. We strongly recommend all customers presently using those name servers to switch to use our system. Please contact us if you need assistance making this transition.

Update: 2:45pm - There is more information about this posted on Network Solution’s Forums.

Upstream Network Issue

Posted by Blue Box Group about about 1 year ago...

We are seeing indications of problems with one of our upstream carriers causing inaccessibility to our network. We are presently diagnosing the issue. If you are seeing any connectivity problems, please send a traceroute from your location to your server at Blue Box Group to support@blueboxgrp.com.

Update 2:39pm - Traffic appears to be flowing normally now. We are still investigating which provider had the network issue. We will update this post when we know more.

Thank you
