Tonight at 11:00pm PDT (Aug 28, 06:00 UTC) we will be installing a new distribution switch on the network. As this switch does not presently touch any customer-facing networks, we expect there to be no impact on customer services during this maintenance window. However, as the switch will be directly connected to our networking core by the end of this maintenance, an increased risk of an outage does exist. We expect this work to take a half hour.

On September 4th for most of the day the local utility providing power to our primary data center facility is going to be relocating a power pole outside the facility. This work will affect the supply of electricity to the facility. For the duration of this utility work our primary data center will be running on generator power. Also, to ensure that there is a backup plan for power should the primary generator fail during this maintenance window, there will be a second generator with the same capacity brought on-site and directly attached to the power bus-tie panel.
We expect no outages as a result or side-effect of this work, however an increased risk of an outage does exist during this window.
