box6 Issues

We are experiencing a problem with the shared hosting server box6. It is temporarily offline while we work to resolve the issue. We will be in touch soon with more details.

Update 8:08PM (Mon Nov 16 04:08:12 UTC 2009) box6 is now back online. We’ve been in touch with all customers directly regarding the event.

Brief service outage for one of our virtual server hosts.

Today at 06:54, one of our virtual server hosts (VSH42) hung, and required a hard reset. This took approximately 26 minutes, including file system checks, and has recovered fully.

We apologize to the customers affected, We are taking steps to ensure that this problem does not recur.

Box Panel Central Database Maintenance

Tonight between midnight and 1:00am PST (Nov 19, 08:00 to 09:00 UTC) we will be performing some database optimizations on our central internal database server. This system supports the operations of Box Panel, our support system, ftp logins for certain hosts, our primary website and a few other key systems on our network. During this outage window, these services will not be functional.

If an emergency situation arises on one of your machines during this window, we encourage you to call our support line and leave an urgent message. This will page our on-call support staff to alert them of your message.

Update 2:00am PST (10:00 UTC):It took a little longer to get the database work done than anticipated, however most things were done and most services were online by 1:17am. At this time, the last of the residual problems created by this outage should have cleared

Box Panel Update

Starting at 2:30PM Pacific (Tue Nov 24 22:30:00 UTC 2009), we will be pushing a major revision of Box Panel live. Customers may experience 15 minutes of interruption in Box Panel access during this push. Customers who have multiple accounts will be receiving a direct email with new login information.

Attention all Boxcar Customers!

Planet Argon will be shutting down their boxcar hosts after the end of this month, so if you’ve been migrated and you haven’t repointed your DNS to your servers with us, it’s important that you do so immediately. If your DNS is still pointed at your Planet Argon host after they’re shut down, your site will become unavailable, so it’s important that you let us know as soon as possible if you have any questions or concerns.

Anyone who has not been migrated yet should have received an e-mail with the date we’re planning on finalizing the migration. Please get in touch with us as soon as possible to coordinate DNS changes, and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you’re a boxcar customer and have already taken care of DNS changes with us, you can disregard this message – your site(s) will not be affected. This will also not affect service for any other Blue Box Group customers.

2009 Thanksgiving Support Hours

Our offices will be closed tomorrow, November 26th, in observence of the Thanksgiving holiday. The office will remain closed on Friday for general business, and we will have reduced staff on hand for support issues and limited phone support. Our on-call staff will be available throughout the holiday, so if there is an emergency that needs to be addressed, please either open an urgent support ticket, or leave us an urgent voicemail.
