Tonight between 11pm and 12:00am PST (Nov 19, 07:00 to 08:00 UTC) we will be performing an update on our central internal database server. This system supports the operations of Box Panel, our support system, ftp logins for certain hosts, our primary website and a few other key systems on our network. During this outage window, these services will not be functional.
If an emergency situation arises on one of your machines during this window, we encourage you to call our support line and leave an urgent message. This will page our on-call support staff to alert them of your message.

We will be performing emergency maintenance on vsh13 tonight starting at 07:00:00 UTC to correct an issue that is not currently affecting the underlying virtual servers but is impacting the functionality of the host server. We will also be taking this opportunity to apply software updates to the server. This downtime will only affect 6 virtual servers.
We do not expect this maintenance to take more then an hour and we will strive to keep the downtime to a minimum.
Update 07:05:00 UTC: We will be taking vsh13 down for this emergency maintenance shortly. There will be a slight delay on this while we take care of some of the pre-maintance while the machine is still online.
Update 08:00:00 UTC: Due to the delayed start of this maintenance we are still working on the server. It is also looking like it is going to take slightly longer then expected. I apologize for the extended downtime. Another update will follow once we have more information for you.
Update 08:22:00 UTC: At this time we have completed the emergency maintenance on vsh13 and confirmed that all services are running normally. Again we apologize for the extended downtime associated with this maintenance. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact our support department and we would be more then happy to assist you.

Today at Sun Dec 13 19:15:49 UTC 2009 one of our virtual server hosts (VSH24) hung, and required a hard reset. This took approximately 26 minutes, including file system checks, and has recovered fully.
We apologize to the customers affected, We are taking steps to ensure that this problem does not recur.

We will be performing server maintenance on vsh24 starting at 07:00 UTC on Monday, December 21st, 2009. We do not expect this maintenance to take more than 1 hour and the downtime during this maintenance window will be kept as brief as possible. E-mails have been sent to all affected customers in addition to this posting.
Please contact technical support if you have any questions or concerns about this maintenance.

Update 06:58:00 UTC: We will be taking vsh24 down for regular maintenance shortly. An update will be made once the maintenance is complete.
Update 08:00:00 UTC: We have finished performing maintenance on vsh24. All services should be functioning normally at this time.

Currently one of our upstream phone providers is experiencing issues that are affecting our phone system. If you’ve tried calling in, but were unable to reach us, please send us an e-mail instead at support@blueboxgrp.com, and we’ll respond to your issue as soon as possible.

vsh13 appears to have locked up as of Wed Dec 16 23:00:30 UTC 2009.
Technicians are responding and diagnosing the machine now. All virtual servers housed on that machine should be available momentarily. We will track updates in this system status post.
Update: Wed Dec 16 23:33:04 UTC 2009
The system has now recovered. We will be migrating virtual servers off this host tonight during our maintenance window at Thurs 07:00:00 UTC (Wed 11PM PST)
Customers should not expected downtime during this move, although their site may be paused briefly during the move.

This coming Sunday morning at 2AM PST (12/20/2009 10:00:00 AM UTC), one of our core network providers will be doing scheduled maintenance on our directly connected upstream router. There should be no outage or network disruption of any kind. We’re posting this per the terms of our SLA to keep customers informed of upcoming work.

The process monitoring gem God has undergone an update thanks to local Seattle developer @lindvall. Eric has fixed many of the memory leak issues that all previous God releases have had. Since we’ve seen some pretty ridiculous memory footprint issue with god, we’ve gone ahead and rolled out 0.8.0 to all servers. If you’re using god to monitor your processes, you’ll just need to restart the process to use the new binary.
We’ve also updated our virtual server templates with the associated change.

Our offices will be closed tomorrow, December 25th, in observence of the Christmas holiday. The office will reopen on Monday, December 28th. We will then be closed again on Friday, January 1st. Our on-call staff will be available throughout the holiday, so if there is an emergency that needs to be addressed, please either open an urgent support ticket, or leave us an urgent voicemail.

We will be performing server maintenance on several internal servers starting at 07:00 UTC on Wednesday, January 6th 2010. This maintenance should last no more than an hour. During this time customer may experience short outages with Box Panel and ftp authentication.
