Upstream Network Event

Posted by Blue Box Group about 4 months ago...

At Thu Mar 18 18:17:02 PDT 2010, we experienced issue with one of the fiber cross connects that connects us to one of our IP providers. Our network experienced a BGP recovergence having traffic failover to our redundant connections. Customers have seen brief occurrence of packet loss as routes changed. At this time, all traffic is flowing normally.

We are investigating the issue with the fiber and will update this page with more information when available.

Update: Fri Mar 19 01:37:59 UTC 2010 - We’ve isolated the issue to a broken patch within one of the data center buildings. We’re working with our data center provider to isolate and repair the patch. Again, this is not causing any outage of service. This cross connect simply links our backup data center with the primary.

Update: Fri Mar 19 04:57:06 UTC 2010 - The damaged fiber has been repaired and the cross connect is functional again. There should be no further issues expected as a result of this event.

Thanks

Core network ACL update

Posted by Blue Box Group about 4 months ago...

Tonight at 11:00pm PDT (06:00 UTC) we will be updating the main access control lists on our core routing infrastructure based on new global network assignments that have recently been made. This is a routine update we do periodically, and as such no outage or other customer-visible impact is expected as a result of this work.

Update 11:30pm PDT (06:00 UTC): This maintenance is now complete.

ipv6 configuration maintenance

Posted by Blue Box Group about 4 months ago...

Tonight at 11:00pm PDT (06:00 UTC) we will be performing maintenance on our IPV6 routers’ IPV6 configuration. Note that IPV6 on our network is handled on different physical equipment from our primary IPV4 core, so we do not expect our core network to be affected at all by this work. Further, for those customers using IPV6 there should be no noticeable impact from tonight’s maintenance.

Upstream BGP maintenance

Posted by Blue Box Group about 4 months ago...

Tonight just before midnight PDT (07:00 UTC) we will be performing some maintenance on our BGP configuration with our upstream internet service providers. During this time, there may be brief periods of sub-optimal routing as the BGP routes re-converge, however no outage is expected during or as a result of tonight’s maintenance.
